Week 2 TNF Best Bets: Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills

The Lions travel to Buffalo to kick off Week 2 against the Bills in their new stadium tonight, and NFL fans are primed to get something they’ve been begging for forever: a good Thursday Night Football game. 

Watching this star-studded matchup should be fun enough, but raking in some dough while doing so would make it so much sweeter. Here’s the best bets for tonight to help you do just that.

Over 54.5 Points

Yes, 54.5 is a big number, but this game should be an absolute track meet.

Both the Bills and the Lions offenses have been at the top of the league ranks the last few seasons, but they haven’t been too great on defense. More of the same can be expected this year, as both teams scored over 30 points in Week 1 victories, but also gave up at least 30 points to two offenses that aren’t widely expected to be great.

Also, Bills head coach Joe Brady said that they’re trying to “put on a clinic” for Buffalo fans in the first game in their new stadium. 

There’s plenty of reasons to expect a lot of points tonight, so take the over comfortably.

Josh Allen Over 250.5 Passing Yards, Jared Goff Over 257.5 Passing Yards

Last week, the Lions allowed Tyler Shough, who’s nowhere near the level of quarterback as Allen, to throw for 410 yards.

Similarly, the Bills allowed C.J. Stroud, a lesser quarterback than Goff, to throw for 274 yards.

With the game expected to be high scoring and both teams struggling against the pass last week, Allen and Goff should have no problem picking apart each other’s defenses.

Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown

Former Lion David Montgomery torched Buffalo’s defense for three touchdowns last week, scoring twice on the ground and once through the air. 

The Bills’ defense struggling against running backs in the red zone certainly bodes well for Gibbs’ chances of scoring, but that’s not the only reason to like him to score tonight. Gibbs scored twice himself last week, and had a whopping 34 touches.

Considering everything that’s working in Gibbs’ favor heading into tonight’s matchup, it would almost be stupid NOT to bet him to score.

Dalton Kincaid Over 52.5 Receiving Yards

Brady said during the offseason that he needed to get his tight end more involved in the offense, and he did just that in Week 1. Kincaid had a career outing, catching five of his six targets for 130 yards.

Also boding well for Kincaid, Detroit allowed 15 targets to tight ends last week against the Saints, the most allowed by any team. 

With the Bills actively searching to get their tight end more involved against a team who struggled mightily against the position last week, expect Kincaid to clear this number with ease.
